At the heart of everything we do are our amazing makers, producers and small business friends.
As restrictions lift we are bringing you more content straight from the makers of your favourite products.
Meet Sara from Bopdotz!
We went out to visit Sara at her home studio in Holt to see how she produces her range of ceramic homewares, silver & ceramic jewellery.
We asked Sara some quick fire questions!
How long have you been making ceramics/running Bopdotz?
Ceramics for 20 years, jewellery for 7 years. Bopdotz was previously ‘Clay Design’ but obviously some rebranding was required when I started selling sterling silver jewellery as well!
Why is local shopping important to you?
There’s nothing like seeing and touching a product before buying. Clay is a tactile medium, both in the making and the feel of a finished piece. Likewise a piece of jewellery seen with your own eyes can look so much more than even the best photograph.
What is your favourite spot in the studio?
I’ve got two studios (jewellery and ceramics) to choose from but the best spot has to be my jewellery bench with the morning sun coming through the window.
How do you get into a state of “flow”?
Knowing what I need to do and then just getting started on it.
What is your favourite spot in Canberra?
What have you been binge watching?
I don’t binge watch but I will binge read! I’ve just reread the Cormoran Strike novels by Robert Galbraith (J K Rowling). I’ve already pre-ordered the next in the series so roll on its publication in September.
