Recipe share - My mum's most famous chocolate cake recipe

We promised an Easter-Feaster and we are serving you up a few little recipe shares!

This is my mum's most famous chocolate cake recipe.

It is rich, dark, dense and f*kn delicious. It's more accurately a chocolate mud pie, almost like fudge brownie or something.
Tried and true for about 30 years, this is my family's "special occasion cake".

So get ready to rumble my friends!

Melt & Mix -

250 gm butter (like the good shit, not margarine or whatever is in that plastic tub)
150 gm dark chocolate
2 cups caster sugar
1/3 cup of coffee liqueur (we used Antipodes Espresso)
2 shots espresso (we used RedBricks Dark Coffee)
1/2 cup hot water

Sift & Stir -

1 cup plain flour
1/4 cup self-raising flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder

Lightly beat -

2 eggs

Mix it all together now -

Get all all the lumps and bumps, only leaving curves and swerves

Bake -

160* C for like 1 3/4 hours

Serve & Slay -

But get that good double cream to serve.
And fresh juicy strawbs.
And some icing sugar to dust over the cake if you wanna be real extra.

We served and styled this with Jo Townsend hand thrown ceramic side plates and a Potter Made hand thrown ceramic, white glaze bowl.
